Legolin 3.0

It’s finally ready. It’s finally live. I’m glad to announce the launch of Legolin 3.0, i.e. my 3rd version of legolinsplace.com. The design hasn’t changed much, I rather focussed on redeveloping the whole site, cleaning up the HTML/CSS code, so to make the site more accessible and W3C validated -  I like things clean & tidy you know… ;-p
That has also given me the chance to - FINALLY! - make some content updates, that were due for far too long. I’ve basically updated all the pages, particularly the photos section (adding new pictures of Dublin and Howth) as well as the work section, updating my portfolio and cv. Last but not least, I finally gave my website & blog a nice favicon, so you can now easily find me in your bookmarks - if you have added me in your bookmarks of course, if not… WHAT?? Shame on you!! ;-)

Enjoy the run…

Ubiquity 4 Firefox

I love to be impressed. But unfortunately it’s not that easy to impress me.
That’s why I’m glad when it happens - and with Ubiquity, it did.

On Mozilla Labs’ Blog, Ubiquity is introduced as an “experiment into connecting the Web with language in an attempt to find new user interfaces that could make it possible for everyone to do common Web tasks more quickly and easily.”

Translated into “plain English” (;-p) that means Ubiquity is going to make your web experience better and easier. The main idea (and goal) of this new Firefox extension (at its alpha version) is to empower users to control the web browser with language-based instructions, that allow them to do their common and simple web tasks faster, easier and in a more effective way: “With search, users type what they want to find. With Ubiquity, they type what they want to do.”

If you, too, like to find ways to make your life easier and get better results with less effort, then you should install the prototype and give it a try. But you don’t have to trust my word, watch the introduction video and see for yourself.

Back Blogging

One of my new year’s resolutions - yeah yeah, you can laugh but I know you did your own, too!!! - is to go back blogging, or, better said,  to start blogging properly. The plan is to post stuff kinda regularly, no more huge temporal holes!

The first step of this “blog re-birth” was upgrading the whole thing to the latest Wordpress version (2.7) - this following my new 2009 motto: Upgrade or Die!! ;-) That means new design and new features in the back end (that will make my posting even smoothier), increased spam filters (that hopefully will put a stop to all those comments about penis enlargement I was getting!!) and a new cosy home on a Linux server :-)

The second step, then, was giving my blog a new look… so I’ve found a new theme, edited a few things here and there and ta-daah: a brand new look! :-)

But wait, wait! I still haven’t told you the best part!! Now that my blog is upgraded… I can post messages and read comments directly from my iPod Touch!!! How cool is that?? My nerd soul is all excited!! ;-)

So let’s see if I can bring this blog back to life… you better stay tuned!! :-)
